The son of the BMW’s owner,Suraj Sehrawat, surrendered in court on Tuesday and was granted bail after he furnished a personal bond of Rs 50,000.

The BMW was involved in a accident near IFFCO towers in Gurgaon on May 5. Two persons, including a pregnant woman, were killed in the accident; four others were injured.

Police said following the probe of the special investigating team,Suraj has been named as an accused in the case. According to police,Suraj surrendered after he was named as an accused. “We asked the court to grant us his custody. Although our investigations reveal that there were only two people in the car, they (the Sehrawat family) had said there were three,” said Maheshwar Dayal,DCP (East).

Police made three points in the court on Tuesday. They said they wanted Suraj’s blood samples, the clothes he was wearing at the time of the accident and his driving licence. Police told court that they wanted to recover these. The blood and other samples found inside the BMW car have already been sent for forensic examination. As of now, police maintain that Suraj was driving the car. Suraj came to the court around 12 noon and left soon after his bail was accepted.

“The court has reserved the decision on if Suraj will have to join the investigation or not for Wednesday. As of now he is a free man,” said DCP Dayal.

Police said the next step will be decided after the court’s decision on Wednesday.
