Cartoonist Haneef Azhar,businessmen Azhar Yusuf and Faizal Yusuf,former MLAs Karan Yadav and Rajesh Yadav and some members of Poorvanchal Gan Parishad Delhi Pradesh were among those who joined the BJP on Tuesday.
Many from the Muslim community also joined the party,sources said. The event was seen as attempt by the BJP to woo Muslims.
Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel said,The Congress government has done nothing for the Muslims in Delhi over the past 15 years. According to the National Sample Survey Organisation data,31 per cent Muslims live below poverty line. Only 23.7 per cent Muslims are in government jobs and 6.5 per cent in private jobs in Delhi.
Urdu is the second official language of Delhi but no government department has an Urdu translator. Not a single Urdu medium school has been established since 1998. The BJP will ensure Muslims do not remain a neglected lot, he said.
