BJP supporters held a protest at ITO on Friday demanding the filing of an FIR against those allegedly involved in a “conspiracy” to stall the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission’s move in 2010 to cut tariff by 23 per cent.

The demonstration at Shaheed Park near the Delhi Police Headquarters was staged to protest against police inaction on a complaint filed by the BJP last week against Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and others. Police used water cannons on the protesters.

Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta said the protesters were lathicharged and detained. “We demand filing of an FIR against those involved in restraining the DERC from cutting the tariff. We will intensify our agitation if police do not file an FIR soon,” Gupta said
