Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay on Friday attacked the ruling AAP government in Delhi over its support to Janata Dal United leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.
The BJP leader pointed out that Nitish had forged an alliance with Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad, and said the latter’s leadership is considered to be the symbol of anarchy, corruption, casteism and ‘goondaism’ in Bihar.
“This was the reason why people voted out this party 10 years ago and Lalu Prasad had to face defeat. In this election, even the members of Lalu Prasad’s family were defeated. Nitish Kumar had not only defeated Lalu Prasad 10 years ago with the help of BJP but had also fought for securing punishment to him by the Supreme Court. Today, for political gain, he has allied himself with Lalu Prasad and he has also taken the support of the Congress which was considered by him as the symbol of corruption his whole life,” said Upadhyay.
“What will happen to the claims of honesty and morality of the AAP chief,” he asked.
Kejriwal aides had maintained that AAP support will be extended only to Nitish’s “clean image” and not to his allies —the Congress and Lalu Prasad. AAP sources said Kejriwal has also been invited to a Bihar government function next week.
