Bike grazes bike,19-year-old beaten to death

Police said the incident took place around 8.30 pm at Ram Bagh Colony in Loni,Ghaziabad.

Three men on a motorcycle chased a 19-year-old boy,riding pillion on a friend’s bike,caught him and beat him to death on Sunday night after their bike grazed the motorcycle of the accused. No arrests have been made as yet.

Police said the incident took place around 8.30 pm at Ram Bagh Colony in Loni,Ghaziabad.

The boy,Shanky Pal,was a Class XII student at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Yamuna Nagar,police said. The accused are yet to be identified.

Shanky and his friend Sonu (20),who lives in Ram Bagh Colony,were going to a nearby market when their bike grazed the motorcycle of the accused,police said.

There was an argument following which Shanky and Sonu tried to speed away but were chased by the accused,police added.

The three men caught up with them in a poorly-lit stretch of the colony and allegedly dragged Shanky off the bike,police said. Though he fell off the bike,his friend didn’t stop but drove away to fetch help,police added.

The three men allegedly thrashed Shanky mercilessly,resulting in his death. He was declared dead on arrival at the GTB Hospital in Delhi. Police,quoting doctors,said he died of internal bleeding.

When Sonu returned with a group of people,the accused had fled. They rushed Shanky,lying on the road,to a local hospital,where doctors advised them to take him to GTB Hospital,” a police officer said.

Police said efforts were on to identify the accused. “Sonu told us that all were aged between 20 and 30. We are examining CCTV footage from shops along the stretch where the incident took place,” the officer added.
