Be on the Street: DU colleges face off at theatre fest
Be On The Street,Be Artsys street theatre festival for colleges,opened.
“Be On The Street”,Be Artsy’s street theatre festival for colleges,opened on Friday. It will go till February 18,with events at DLF Promenade,Vasant Kunj,and Mocha in Defence Colony.
Supported by the United Nations Information Centre as part of the celebrations for the International Year of Youth,this is the first edition of the festival. The week-long programme is the culmination of an effort that began in November to give a public space for street theatre.
The event will take place at the DLF Promenade,Vasant Kunj,on February 12,16 and 17. About 20 teams from Delhi University colleges are expected to participate.
The 10 semi-finalists will go head-to-head on February 13-15 for the ‘Battle of Thoughts’ at Mocha,where they will critically review each other’s productions with the help of a theatre personality.
Be Artsy is an organisation that has taken the initiative to empower creative minds through training and giving them the right direction. It also tries to take art to the masses. The youth programme initiative is to promote performing,visual and literary arts.
Be Artsy will also take out an awareness rally in the North Campus on February 14. The Indian Express,Vodafone,Programme for Life and PETA are partners for the event.
