Azad Singh to fight from Mundka,Shokeen from Nangloi,says BJP leader
New Delhi: After the delay in announcing the candidate for the Nangloi Assembly constituency,the BJP has decided to field Mundka sitting MLA Manoj Shokeen from the seat. The Mundka seat,on which he has been announced the candidate in the partys list,will go to the mayor of North corporation Azad Singh,a senior party leader said.
According to the leader,the party will declare the names on both the seats in a day or two and that the party had decided to give in to the demands of Azad Singh,brother of former chief minister,the late Sahib Singh Verma. Manoj Shokeen,who has been declared as the candidate from the seat,will be shifted to Nangloi and Azad Singh will fight from Mundka,the seat he has been demanding, the party leader said.
Nangloi is the only seat on which the party is yet to announce any candidate.
JD (U) releases list of 26,second list today
New Delhi: Claiming their fight for the Delhi Assembly elections as one over issues,the Janata Dal (United) released a list of 26 candidates on Wednesday,including sitting MLA Shoaib Iqbal. The second list of another 44 candidates will be released by the party on Thursday. Partys Delhi chief Sabir Ali said apart from issues of price rise,corruption,unemployment,education,health and womens safety,the party will also contest and bring to the fore the issue of step-motherly treatment meted out to people from Bihar and Eastern UP.
89 candidates file nominations in Delhi
A total of 89 candidates,including five sitting MLAs from Congress and BJP,filed nominations on Wednesday. The office of the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer said that 89 candidates belonging to over two dozen parties,like AAP,Congress,BJP,BSP,and CPI,JD (U) along with Independents,filed nominations in nine electoral districts of Delhi. EC received 143 applications as some parties as well as Independents filed multiple applications. As many 198 people have so far filed nominations for the Assembly polls.
Modi to address eight rallies in the capital
New Delhi: BJPs prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is planning to address eight rallies in the capital. According to a senior leader,four rallies are scheduled on November 23,three rallies have been scheduled on November 30 and one rally will be held on December 1. The venues of the rallies are yet to be decided.
