Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has taken voluntary retirement from the Union Finance Ministry’s department of revenue.
Sunita, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service, had sought VRS (voluntary retirement scheme) earlier this year.
The Finance Ministry Tuesday issued an official order, allowing her to take VRS.
The order stated, “Upon considering her notice for voluntary retirement from government service under FR-56 K, the President of India is pleased to allow Sunita Kejriwal IRS (IT-93072) CIT (DR) ITAT, New Delhi to retire from government service with effect from July 15, 2016.”
It added, “Sunita Kejriwal’s attention is invited to Rule 10 of Central Civil Services (pension) rules, 1972, that if she wishes to take commercial employment within one year from the date of her retirement, she shall seek government’s prior permission.”
