Last year saw Goa’s Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts turn into the venue for The Sanghvi Salons,a series of salons hosted by writer-photographer Siddharth Dhanvant Sanghvi. The event, which was held between November 2012 and February 2013,had the 35-year-old author of The Lost Flamingoes of Bombay in conversation with several eminent artists, including Sudarshan Shetty and Sooni Taraporevala.

This September, the second edition of the salons returns, where Sanghvi will open the series with the power couple,writer-historian William Dalrymple and artist Olivia Fraser. Scheduled once again at the art and culture hub in Goa,owned by Dipti and Raj Salgaocar, the event,on September 14,will host bookmaker Dayanita Singh and artist Shilpa Gupta. “The idea of the salon is to help animate the quietness of art with the flare of words and discuss the essentially amorphous nature of how artists work,” says the writer.

The salons this season explore the idea of the muse. “How do two people lend felicity and inspiration to each other? These duos could be friends, lovers, siblings,a parent and a child — how does the intimacy of their relationship influence their work,” says Sanghvi.
