A group of schools on Wednesday moved the Delhi High Court against its order restraining unaided private schools from charging fees on quarterly basis on the ground that the city government’s guidelines does not authorise them to do so. A division bench of acting Chief Justice B D Ahmed and Justice Vibhu Bakhru issued a notice to the Directorate of Education of Delhi government and sought its response by July 24 on the appeal filed by the schools saying that the Delhi School Education Rules apply to only aided schools and not to unaided ones.

Woman jumps off building to resist alleged rape bid

A 21-year-old woman sustained injuries after she jumped off a building,to resist the rape attempt by two neighbours. The victim,a resident of JJ colony,complained that she was abducted from Sunlight Colony,Southeast Delhi by the neighbours around 1.30 am on Tuesday and forcefully taken to a building in the area. She alleged that the neighbours molested her and attempted rape,however she managed to give them a slip and jumped from the first floor of the building. She then raised an alarm and the locals of the area gathered in the area. One of them then made a PCR call,police said.

HC seeks govt response on PIL for special courts

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought response from city government on a PIL seeking a direction to constitute special courts for trying sexual offences committed against children. A bench of Acting Chief Justice B D Ahmed and Justice Vibhu Bakhru issued notice to the Delhi government and sought response by August 14 on the PIL filed by an advocate Gaurav Bansal,saying section 28 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act mandates setting up special courts but nothing has been done so far.

RTR carriageway closed at night for few weeks

The carriageway from Munirka to the Airport on the Rao Tula Ram flyover will remain closed in the early hours,for repair works carried out by the PWD,police said. The carriageway would remain closed for all vehicles from 12 am to 5 am for the next few weeks as the PWD are repairing the sound noise barriers in the area. Traffic police advised commuters to avoid the carriageway till the repair work is on.

3 arrested for ‘beating up’ cops in Sangam Vihar

Police on Tuesday arrested three people for allegedly beating up three Delhi Police personnel in Southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area. The officials had gone for a raid,when a group of illicit liquor suppliers attacked them with rods,stones and sticks. The accused were identified as Hari Singh,his wife Ram Pyari and Chotu. The fourth accused is still at large.
