New Delhi:A thunderstorm is heading toward Delhi and is expected to hit on Sunday,offering a respite from the scorching heat. India Meteorological Department officials have predicted that light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder could continue till Monday,taming the high temperatures which have already gone above 40 degree Celsius. The western disturbance is travelling from Jammu and Kashmir will keep the temperature around 37 degree Celsius instead.
Sheila Dikshit admitted for sinus surgery
New Delhi:Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was admitted to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre on Thursday evening for a scheduled surgery on Friday. Sources at the hospital confirmed that Dikshit has been admitted in the ENT department for a minor sinus surgery.
Her basic work up was performed on Thursday. All her vital parameters are stable,and the sinus procedure will be performed as scheduled, a hospital source said.
Cocaine worth Rs 24 cr seized at IGIA
New Delhi:Customs officials on Wednesday seized cocaine worth about Rs 24 crore in the street market from the cargo terminal of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The seized drug was hidden in a consignment of Nylon pipes,which has to be sent to Canada,custom officials said. The consignment was booked by a person said to be living in Moradabad,police said.
Teenager attempts to rape 5-year-old
Gurgaon:A teenage boy allegedly attempted to rape a 5-year-old girl in DLF Phase III Nathupur,Gurgaon,late Wednesday night. Police said an 18-year-old boy working as a carpenter in a house near Nathupur tried to lure the girl and attempted to take her to the house where he was working. The girls mother rescued her when she heard about her daughters whereabouts,police said.
