Police restructures jurisdiction area
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has restructured its jurisdiction area,increasing the number of ranges from three to four. The functioning of all the four ranges will be headed by a Joint Commissioner of Police. The four ranges include southeastern range,southwestern range,central range and northern range. Central range,being new in the list,will comprise areas from New Delhi,central and north districts.
Hamdard teachers file plea in High Court
NEW DELHI: The teachers association of Hamdard University approached the Delhi High Court on Wednesday,and filed a petition against the continuation of G N Qazi as Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard,a deemed university,even after attaining the age of 65 in August last year. The court has sought the universitys response by May 23.
Jail term for drunk driving upheld
NEW DELHI: A city court upheld the jail term awarded to a man for drunk driving,dismissing his plea for replacing the jail term with a reformative order of community service. However,the court reduced the jail term from five days to three. The matter came up before Additional Sessions Judge Pawan Kumar Jain,after a magisterial court in January sentenced Arun Verma to five days in jail,and a fine of Rs 3,000 for driving in an inebriated state without valid car insurance.
Parking facility opened at Subhash Marg
NEW DELHI: Mayor Rajni Abbi on Wednesday inaugurated a multi-level underground parking at Subhash Marg,near Red Fort and Jama Masjid. The three-level facility and can accommodate up to 1,020 cars. Engineer-in-Chief Ravi Dass,Leader of the House in MCD Subhash Arya and government officials were present at the event.
