The family of a man,who died in a road accident involving a rashly-driven truck,has been awarded compensation of over Rs 32 lakh by a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) here. The tribunal directed National Insurance Company Ltd,with which the truck was insured,to pay Rs 32,08,700 to two wives and seven children of Mohd Badruddin who died in the accident on June 23,2011,at MB Road near Mehrauli. Badruddin was travelling on a motorcycle as a pillion rider. While awarding compensation,the tribunal said the accident had taken place due to rash driving of truck driver Hoshila Prasad Nishad,leading to Badruddins death.
CM announces Rs 5 cr for Himachal flood victims
New Delhi: Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 crore for flood victims in Himachal Pradesh. The floods have affected a large number of people in the hilly state. We have decided to give Rs five crore for the people affected by the flood, Dikshit said. Delhi Government had earlier announced an assistance of Rs 10 crore for victims of flash floods in Uttarakhand.
