Gang involved in MTNL cable theft nabbed
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police on Sunday claimed to have nabbed a gang allegedly involved in the theft of underground MTNL cables. The police arrested six persons,including a labour contractor,when the gang came to Lodhi Colony pretending to be MTNL workers and started working on a cable. The police also recovered around 300 kg of cable from them. “These criminals are basically targeting cable abandoned by the MTNL after laying new cable in the area,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South)

Three arrested for murder of businessman
NEW DELHI: Three persons,including a sharpshooter,were arrested in the Capital in connection with the murder of a businessman early this month,police said. Anil Jaat (32),the sharpshooter of the Ashok Rathi gang,Nitin (25) and Vikash (26) were apprehended on Saturday,Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Neeraj Thakur said. The murder was a result of personal rivalry,he added.

Cash,jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh burgled
NEW DELHI: Cash and jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh were allegedly burgled from a house in Rajinder Nagar area of Central district,Delhi by unidentified assailants when there was no one at the house Saturday night. The house owner Rajeev Kumar Mahajan had gone to Dwarka,but when he came back he found the locks broken and the house ransacked,said the police. A case of burglary was registered at the Rajinder Nagar police station.The police are verifying the extent of Mahajan’s losses.
