The Crime Branch has arrested one more person in connection with the death of over 12 people due to illicit liquor in West Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar. Mahesh (48) is the sixth person to be arrested in the case.
According to the police,the accused was involved in 60 cases earlier. Officers claimed that Mahesh had told them about the entire network of manufacture,distribution and supply of spurious liquor.
On April 5,the police had arrested a bootlegger,Seema,claiming that the men who died had bought liquor from this woman. Her interrogation led them to Mahesh,a resident of Raghubir Nagar,in Nand Nagari on Wednesday evening.
He was produced in the Tis Hazari court on Thursday and was remanded to five days’ police custody.
In two cases reported from West Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar and South-West Delhi’s Sagarpur in the last one month,hooch claimed nearly 25 lives.
Suspecting that a large stock of spurious liquor is still lying undetected,Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal has already announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh if anybody comes up with information on this.
