Amrit Vatika to come up near National War Memorial: Delhi LG

L-G VK Saxena said an “Amrit Vatika” will soon come up near the National War Memorial. The announcement was made during the “Meri Maati, Mera Desh” campaign celebrations at Raj Niwas dedicated to the bravehearts who have sacrificed their lives for the country. The garden will be developed from soil collected from all 11 districts of Delhi.

According to officials, the venture transcends being just a green space; it will be a living testament to one’s shared heritage, with the soil and saplings representing every corner of India. The plan is to plant 75 saplings of indigenous species and develop the ‘Amrit Vatika’.

According to official sources, youth, volunteers and citizens gathered soil from their villages and transported it to the block level. Soil was also gathered from smaller urban bodies and brought to the municipalities and other larger urban local bodies. The urns were then carried to the national capital.
