AIIMS infant brought out of ICU

The two-year-old girl who had been admitted to AIIMS in a battered state two months ago,was on Friday shifted out of the ICU,after she was able to breathe on her own without ventilator support for three consecutive days.

The two-year-old girl who had been admitted to AIIMS in a battered state two months ago,was on Friday shifted out of the ICU,after she was able to breathe on her own without ventilator support for three consecutive days. This was the first sign of hope since she was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition 45 days ago. Dr Deepak Aggarwal,the neurologist monitoring her condition,said,“We shifted her to the ward today. She is doing fine. We have removed the plaster from her hands and she is moving her limbs. She is likely to be fit enough to be discharged in a few days.”

Man jumps before Metro,dies

A 35-year-old man from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh committed suicide by jumping in front of a Metro train at Chandni Chowk station. The incident took place around 7 am on Friday. Eyewitnesses said the train driver applied brakes but was unable to bring the train to a halt in time. The man,identified as Vinod Kumar,was rushed to LNJP Hospital where he was declared dead. Doctors said he had suffered severe head and shoulder injuries. Police said that no one had come forward so far to claim the body. Earlier on January 24,a man attempted suicide at the same station,but he survived as the driver applied brakes.
