An 18-year-old man allegedly committed suicide on Sunday night after he was accused of stealing Rs 7,000 from the house where he worked as a help.
The boy has been identified as Deen Dayal,a Class X student of Ingraham School in Ghaziabad. Police said Deen lived in the house of one Subhash Chandra Sengar.
Police said Deen was found hanging from a fan in his bedroom at 7 am. He was hanging from the ceiling fan in his room. He had been brought up in the house of Sengar, who is a Railways engineer. Deen helped him with household chores, a police officer said.
In a suicide note, which was found on the bed,Deen wrote that he was ending his life because he was disturbed by allegations of theft levelled against him by the family.
The note addressed to Baba (Sengar) says he was depressed since the family that brought him up was alleging that he was a thief. It further says that he did not steal the money and was committing suicide due to depression. He also wrote that he was fed up of being poor, the officer said.
Police said they were looking into the role of Sengars family in the suicide.
