The Aam Aadmi Party is set to pick up the political ante against the BJP with a protest march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on Monday morning. Senior party officials said the AAP would protest against the failure of the BJP to ask either Vasundhara Raje or Sushma Swaraj or Smriti Irani to resign from their posts.
A senior party official said they would protest the Centre’s inaction against errant ministers both inside and outside the Assembly.
“The matter has already been brought up by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Assembly, and it will likely be spoken about on Monday as well. However, as had been announced last week, it is the party’s responsibility to raise our voices against corruption, and all frontal organisations of the party will be present at the protest on Monday morning. There will be a march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament beginning at 9 am,” a leader said.
Another leader said the party would push for action against the three leaders, especially against Smriti Irani, given that they had asked former Delhi Law Minister Jitendra Tomar to step down after allegations that his degrees were “false”.
“The BJP had taken a stance that Jitendra Tomar should step down because there were allegations against him that were improper of a minister in office. Now that a court has admitted a plea against HRD minister Smriti Irani, the same standard must apply to her,” the leader said.
