AAP MLA Somnath Bharti’s phone snatched at Malviya Nagar temple, locals catch accused
He said he was celebrating ‘Prakash Parv’ at the temple when an unknown person snatched his phone and attacked locals with a blade. He requested the Delhi Police to lodge a case.
The court was hearing Sitharaman's application seeking a direction that Bharti withdraw his Vakalatnama or the legal document concerned from the matter. Her application stated that since Bharti was Mitra’s husband, he was a personal as well as pecuniary beneficiary of the case.

AAP MLA Somnath Bharti Monday said he was robbed of his phone while praying at a temple in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar before locals caught the accused and got his phone back
He said he was celebrating ‘Prakash Parv’ at the temple when an unknown person snatched his phone and attacked locals with a blade. He requested the Delhi Police to lodge a case.
The snatcher was caught and handed over to the police, who apprehended him. Police said they have received the complaint and are lodging an FIR.
In a video shared by Bharti, locals make the accused sit on the ground. He is then questioned about a chemical tube and a blade he was carrying. Locals are then heard saying the man is a serial offender, often seen roaming in the area.
In his complaint, Bharti said he was visiting gurudwara and temples in Malviya Nagar to celebrate the festival. Around 3 pm, he reached Jhulelal temple.
“After bowing my head… to the Holy Guru Granth Sahib, the organiser offered to arrange ‘prasad’ (for me) at a secluded place but I requested him to (offer it to me along with everyone else). I started having the prasad and I saw one boy… sitting on a chair next to me… he suddenly took my phone from my side pocket and ran outside. (When I shouted out), people caught him. Though the phone was recovered, he took out a blade from his pocket and tried to attack me. Before he could…, Mr Parveen Paul (a local resident) attempted to stop him and (sustained an injury) to his hand… In the last 9 years, I have never experienced such a situation and I suspect this is more than stealing. I suspect if somebody (wanted to) hurt me physically,” he alleged in the complaint.
