A Delhi court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of AAP legislator Manoj Kumar, who has been arrested in a case of land-grabbing and cheating.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Saurabh Pratap Singh Laler dismissed the bail applications of Kumar and his alleged accomplice Lakhpat. The ACMM had earlier remanded the two accused to Tihar Jail till July 25.
During the proceedings, advocates Mahesh Sharma andC L Gupta — appearing for the Kondli legislator — argued that the case against Kumar is “politically-motivated”. “The case has been given a political colour as he is an AAP MLA. There was no forgery. Kumar should be granted bail since all the documents are in the possession of police,” the defence said.
