Earlier, the Congress had announced that it will embark on a similar march across the Capital this month in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly polls.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is likely to join his former deputy Manish Sisodia for padyatras across the capital to campaign for the Delhi Assembly elections.

“Ever since he stepped out of prison, Manish ji, who is sequentially undertaking padyatras across Delhi, is likely to be joined by Arvind ji in this outreach for the Assembly election campaign… Like with Manish ji, the AAP convenor will likely visit areas covering the city’s 70 Assembly constituencies,” a party insider said.

Even as the party has started activating dedicated wings related to specific focus groups, sources said the AAP was also considering deploying members of the six-person Delhi Cabinet as part of its outreach. “The party is in the process of working out modalities related to the former CM’s participation in the outreach; Delhi Cabinet ministers may also be included in similar programmes,” the party insider said. Terming it an ‘agnipariksha’ or trial by fire, Kejriwal on September 15 had made a surprise announcement regarding his resignation.

Earlier, the Congress had announced that it will embark on a similar march across the Capital this month in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly polls.

Last week, AAP Delhi convenor Gopal Rai and the party’s national general secretary (organisation), Sandeep Pathak, had presided over multiple meetings to prepare for the Delhi Assembly elections. During these meetings, in addition to the selection, and later announcement, of 73 office-bearers across different ranks at the civic ward level, the reactivation of dedicated units such as its minority, mahila and auto rickshaw wings among others, was also discussed as part of campaigning.

While interacting with leaders, Pathak had emphasised the need to further strengthen the AAP’s organisation in Delhi and ensure that “every booth in the state is fortified”. The AAP’s “collective goal”, Pathak was quoted as saying at the meeting, was to ensure that Kejriwal was re-elected as the CM, asking party workers to ensure that the AAP Delhi government’s achievements were “taken to every household” in the city.
