On Tuesday, 80 international flights were cancelled at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), as the country’s busiest airport faced disruptions of operations on its westbound routes for the fourth consecutive day amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East region.

According to sources, 36 departures and 44 arrivals were cancelled Tuesday.

Airport operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) issued an advisory for passengers regarding the delays and “operational adjustments” due to the current geopolitical situation in the Middle East. Passengers were advised to check with the respective airlines before travelling to the airport and, if necessary, consider alternate routes or connections, as suggested by the airlines. DIAL also said that all other flight operations were running as per schedule.

Two additional information desks were set up inside the International Security Holding Area and at the departure forecourt to assist affected passengers.

Terminal Operations Quick Reaction Teams were deployed in the check-in and arrival halls, boarding gates, international transfer area and ticketing desks to guide passengers and coordinate with the airlines.

Airport authorities also distributed over 1,500 water bottles, tea and over 500 refreshments through mobile food kiosks. Meals were served to stranded passengers in the international transfer area and at departure gates. More than 100 hygiene kits were arranged, while washroom teams were augmented to ensure clean facilities.

Over 400 additional seats, including recliners, were arranged across airport terminals. Two additional medical teams were also stationed.
