A 72-year-old German national, who had come to India on a business trip, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside his hotel room in Southeast Delhi on Friday morning.
The German national, Edverse, had checked into a prominent hotel on May 27.
On Thursday night, he ordered a beer and continental food from the hotel kitchen, which was served by the hotel staff, police said.
“In the morning when the hotel staff came to clean his room, he did not respond. The staff went back, thinking he must be sleeping. After an hour, another staff member went to his room and knocked repeatedly. When no one responded, he informed the manager, who then gave orders to open the door. When the door was opened, Edverse was found dead inside,” a senior police officer said.
“He was found lying on the floor with blood oozing from his mouth. It appears that he died of cardiac arrest, but we have sent his body for a post-mortem examination. The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the post-mortem examination report is out,” the officer said.
