Days after a man shot dead five persons before taking his own life, two men shot dead three persons and injured three others in Northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar area on Friday evening.

The duo then turned the guns on themselves, police said. While one died, the other has been admitted to LN Hospital.

According to police,Rajbir Sharma (35) and Manish (22) shot dead Jyoti,Usha, and Rajbir’s 11-year-old daughter Khushi.

Three others — Rajbir’s brother Krishan Sharma,Rajbir’s wife Pooja and his daughter Rashi have been admitted to LN Hospital.

“Though the duo tried taking their lives after the shooting spree, only Rajbir died, while Manish escaped,” a police officer said.

Police said the two friends held personal grudges against the victims and decided to kill them.

The two men, armed with two pistols and a country-made firearm, began their shooting spree around 4 pm on Friday, police said. Within an hour, they had shot at six people, police said.

“Their first victim was Krishan Sharma,Rajbir’s elder brother. The two reached Krishan’s house on a motorbike. Rajbir got off and knocked on his door. When Krishan came out,Rajbir shot at him thrice — in the head, stomach and chest — before getting on the bike and moving towards his next target,” the officer said.

Police said Rajbir had a long-standing property dispute with Krishan and this could have been the motive behind his murder.

The duo then went to the house of their next victim,Jyoti (18),located some 500 metres away. “Jyoti has been in a relationship with Manish. But she later got engaged to another person. She was to be married this November. This could be the reason why she was killed. Manish got off the bike and went into Jyoti’s house. The couple had an argument and Manish and shot her dead,” the officer said.

Later, the two proceeded towards Sai Mandir on Burari Road where Rajbir shot dead Usha (25) with whom he reportedly had an extra-marital affair, police said. “Usha worked as a teacher at a private school and was returning home when she was shot dead,” the officer said.

Later, the two men reached Rajbir’s house where Rajbir entered into an altercation with his wife Pooja, police said. Rajbir fire at her, their 11-year-old daughter Khushi and three-year-old daughter Rashi, police said.

“After this,Rajbir stepped out of his house and shot himself in the head. Manish followed suit, but the bulled hit his shoulder,” Gurcharan Singh,an eyewitness, said.

The victims were first rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, from where they were shifted to LN Hospital.

Richa Diwan,Medical Superintendent of Lok Nayak Hospital, said Manish was critical. “Three others — Pooja,Rashi and Krishan — are relatively stable,” she said.

Police said Rajbir owns a transport company — Raju Transport Company — while Manish was a property dealer. Both were living in D Block,Swaroop Nagar, for more than 15 years.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) P Karunakaran said: “We have recovered two pistols and a country-made firearm from Rajbir’s house. The bike, which the two were riding, has also been seized. More than ten rounds were fired.”
