A canter crashed into a truck on Noida Expressway on Monday night, killing four persons and injuring four others. All the victims were travelling in the canter.
The accident took place at1 am. The truck, which was ahead of the canter, braked suddenly, causing the accident, police said.
Those who died are Ramkesh, his six-month-old daughter, Roop Singh (another passenger) and Sanjay, the driver of the canter. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, police said.
Those injured are Ramkesh’s wife Niruma, their two other daughters Bhavna and Vanshika, and Anil, the helper of the canter. They were admitted to a hospital in Greater Noida.
Two helpers of the truck have been arrested, but the driver is on the run. Police said he would be arrested soon.
Police said an FIR had been registered under Sections 279 (rash driving), 337 & 338 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 304A (causing death by negligence) and 427 (mischief causing damage) against the driver and helpers of the truck.
