55 pc seats vacant, Gurgaon colleges plan 4th cut-off list
The colleges have decided to announce a fourth list on Thursday.
Fifty-five per cent seats still remain vacant in Gurgaon colleges following admissions on the basis of the third cut-off list, which was declared on Sunday.
The colleges have decided to announce a fourth list on Thursday. “Even after three cut-off lists, students are not showing up for admissions. So now the colleges have decided to bring out a fourth list and students would be admitted only after submitting late fees,” Sushma Chaudhary, principal of Government PG College in Sector-10, said.
Colleges saw a 10 per cent drop in admissions under the third list compared to admissions under the first list. Until Sunday, the all-women’s government college in Sector-14 had recorded 45 per cent admissions, Dronacharya College had recorded 32 per cent admissions and Government PG College had recorded 25-30 per cent admissions.
“This time, we got more number of forms than expected and students applied for many courses together. But the registrations did not convert into admissions, which is a matter of concern. Also, we are assuming that many students would have turned towards Delhi University as the three-year course is back and the ‘cream’ always goes to DU,” an official said.
