A 53-year-old electric engineer was found dead in a Deer Park in Dilshad Garden,Northeast Delhi,on Monday morning. The man is the elder brother of the medical superintendent of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

According to police,Bharat Bhushan Sharma,a resident of R-Block in Dilshad Garden, was found dead at 6.15 am.

“A passerby, who was out for a morning walk in the park, saw the body. He initially thought that Sharma was unconscious. When Sharma did not respond, the man informed police,” a senior police officer said.

He was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His body was handed over to his family after post-mortem examination.

Sharma’s younger brother Dr D K Sharma said,“He was found dead this morning. The post-mortem report has come. Police are probing if he was murdered or died a natural death.”

Sharma was last seen at 7 pm on Sunday, when he told his father that he was going out for a walk. The deer park is close to his house and he walked to the park. He was found dead the next morning.

Police suspect Sharma fell and injured himself.

“It is possible that he lost balance, tripped and fell down. Apart from a cut on the lip,no injury marks were found on his body. He may have hit a rock or a stone after his fall and sustained an internal injury which led to his death,” the officer said.

Police, however, have not ruled out foul play in Sharma’s death. “It is possible he was murdered. A case of murder has been registered at Seemapuri police station,” the officer said.
