A Four-Year-Old girl drowned in a swimming pool at an amusement park in Southwest Delhi on Friday evening. Though a lifeguard was present near the pool at the time,he failed to notice it,police said,adding that the incident occurred around 6.30 pm.
A case of death due to negligence has been registered. The child had gone to the Fun and Food Village in Kapashera area with her family when the incident occurred. They had come to Delhi recently from abroad for the summer vacations.
There are two pools at the amusement park. One of them,which is two feet deep,is meant for children,while the other a four-foot-deep pool is meant for adults. Initially,the girl was playing in the two-foot pool. However,she soon crossed over to the other one,meant for adults. She drowned there, said AK Ojha,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest).
Police said the parents were not near the pool when the incident occurred. A lifeguard was present,but it seems he was not paying attention, said the officer.
The girl was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital,where she was declared dead on arrival.
