42-year-old held with forged driving licences,registration certificates

A 42-year-old man was arrested from Baba Ganga Nath Marg near Munirka Vihar Flats on Wednesday for allegedly forging driving licences and vehicle registration certificates.

A 42-year-old man was arrested from Baba Ganga Nath Marg near Munirka Vihar Flats on Wednesday for allegedly forging driving licences and vehicle registration certificates.

Police said they have recovered several forged documents from the accused. These include 25 driving licenses,registration certificates of various states,voter identity cards,a computer,scanner,printers,lamination machines and a Santro car which had been stolen from Mewat,Haryana in May.

Acting on a tip-off,police laid a trap to arrest the accused,identified as Mohd Aslam. He was on Baba Ganga Nath Marg to deliver forged documents to one of his customers.

Aslam would charge Rs 1,000 per document and had supplied over a thousand documents till the time of his arrest,police said.

On questioning,the accused told police that he had met one Javed in Mewat,who supplied stolen cars. Aslam said Javed had asked him to arrange forged documents for those cars. He hired a computer operator to help him forge the required documents.

Aslam got requests for forged driving licenses and insurance papers from several customers,mostly from Delhi,Sonepat,Gurgaon,Faridabad and Ghaziabad,police said.
