Four persons were killed and four others injured in two separate accidents in the Gautam Buddh Nagar region on Saturday. One person was killed and four injured in a collision between a Hyundai i10 and a truck near Sector 63. Another collision between two trucks on Yamuna Expressway left three dead.
In the first incident in Sector 63 around 12.30 am,a Hyundai i10 car carrying five persons,rammed a slow-moving truck,police said. The dead man has been identified as Prajjwal,while the injured are Anuj,Vikas,Jitender and Nikhil.
The incident took place near Fortis Hospital. It seems like the driver of the i10,Prajjwal,did not see the truck while turning. A recovery van was used to extricate the car, a senior officer said.
All five,engineers in their early 20s who were working at CEBS,an IT company in Sector 63,were rushed to the hospital where Prajjwal was declared dead on arrival,the official said. Based on the complaint of a family member of one of the engineers,a case has been registered against the driver of the truck. A formal arrest will be made only after investigations, the official said.
The second incident on the Yamuna Expressway near Jaypee Sports City occurred around 4 am,police said. A truck carrying bricks developed a puncture and was parked on the side of the road. While Sachin and Vipin attempted to fix the tyre,a canter crashed into the truck from behind. One of the occupants of the canter,Bunty from Seemapuri in Delhi,as well as Sachin and Vipin died in the accident, a senior officer said.
