4 held for transporting liquor illegally

In the run up to the MCD polls,Delhi Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four persons for allegedly transporting alcohol from neighbouring states to be distributed to woo voters.

In the run up to the MCD polls,Delhi Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four persons for allegedly transporting alcohol from neighbouring states to be distributed to woo voters. The police said at least 29 bootleggers have been arrested since the model code of conduct came into force last month.

Police said 2,627 full bottles,748 half bottles,6,880 quarter bottles,60 bottles of wine and 48 bottles of beer have been recovered from various localities in Southeast Delhi,Southwest Delhi and West Delhi in the past couple of days. “Two cars used in transporting the liquor have also been seized,” a senior police official said. The police have registered 28 cases in this regard.
