The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police on Monday arrested four persons, including a pharmacist at a government dispensary, on charges of selling medicines and injections meant for government hospitals and dispensaries. A huge quantity of medicines, including antibiotics and life-saving drugs, was recovered from their possession.

Police identified the arrested as Shahid Usmani, Manoj Rajpal, Swaraj Dhankhad and Sanjay Kumar. Police said the arrests were made after they received information that a consignment of stolen medicines was to be delivered by one of the accused to a client.

“Based on the tip-off, a team of officers laid a trap near a school at Bhagirath Palace. Around 4.30 pm, a person reached the spot and handed over a bag to another one who had come from Bhagirath Palace side. The police team apprehended them. Based on information gathered during their questioning, their other associates were arrested,” Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, Ravinder Yadav said.
