34-year-old alleges gangrape in Jamia Nagar

A 34-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by three men in Southeast Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area on Saturday night.

A 34-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by three men in Southeast Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area on Saturday night.

The victim,who works in Gurgaon and lives in Munirka,was reportedly waiting,with her elder sister,for a taxi to return home from a pub on Saturday night,when three men approached the duo and offered a lift.

The accused reportedly told them that they were going towards Munirka and would drop them home. The victim’s elder sister said it was getting late and the two got inside the car.

“The women had gone to a pub in Gurgaon and were waiting for a taxi outside Sahara Mall when the accused approached them and offered a lift. The victims accepted the offer and got inside. The elder sister alleged that the accused started misbehaving in the car,” a senior police officer said.

According to the elder sister’s statement,the accused drove them around the city and then pushed her out near Okhla tank in Southeast Delhi.

“The sister alleged that when she tried to resist their advances,the accused pushed her out of the car. The accused then drove off with the victim. She then made a PCR call,” the officer said.

The three accused allegedly took the victim to a flat in Shaheen Bagh,Jamia Nagar,where they took turns to rape her.

According to police sources,the woman managed to escape and approached police.

She was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical examination,which confirmed rape.

The police have formed teams to nab the three accused.

The woman gave police the registration number of the car and has described the appearance of the accused. Investigation in the case is underway,police said.
