A woman,in her 30s,was allegedly gangraped by two men,acquaintances of her husband,in the Dadri area of Greater Noida. Senior police officers said a case of rape had been registered against the accused,one of whom has been arrested.
The incident allegedly took place on April 17,a senior police officer said.
The victim,who suffers from a disability,was returning home from the market after buying a school uniform for her child. Vijay Singh,a friend of her husband offered her a ride home. Since she knew him,she accepted, a senior police officer said.
But,instead of taking her home,he took her to his flat where the other accused,Nizam,was waiting. The two of them then allegedly tied her up and repeatedly raped her,the officer said. They threatened to kill her if she told anyone of the incident, the officer said. Police said Vijay belongs to Badaun,while Nizam,who is absconding,is from Bulandshahr district.
Police said the womans husband was out of town.
In a separate incident,a student of Class XII from Ghaziabad was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape his eight-year old-neighbour on April 14.
A senior police officer said,The accused reportedly took the child to his house and attempted to rape her. However,the victims elder sister,who was looking for the child,arrived at the house of the accused before he could commit the crime.
The accused threatened to kill their father if they spoke about the incident,police said. However,the girls told their family about it and a complaint was lodged with the police.
