A three-year-old play school student was allegedly molested by a 24-year-old attendant on the school premises, in Outer Delhi’s Prashant Vihar area on Thursday. According to police, the accused was arrested soon after the girl’s parents approached police with a complaint.
Police said the child went back home on Wednesday and complained of pain in her genital areas to her mother. Initially, her parents thought she was suffering from urinary tract infection (UTI). However, the child refused to go to school on Thursday and started to cry.
She then told her parents that she was being inappropriately touched by an attendant at the school.
The parents then approached police and based on their complaint a case was registered, police said.

With the child’s help, police went to the school and identified the accused. The accused was hired a few months ago as a trainee.
“Based on the complaint, we have registered a case under the POCSO Act and have arrested the accused. The child also complained that he used to hit her on several occasions. We are investigating if the accused did the same to other children at the school,” DCP (Outer) Vikramjeet Singh said.
When other parents heard the news, they gathered outside the school and demanded to meet the principal. However, she reportedly refused to step out.
A parent, whose daughter studies in lower KG in the school, said, “My child told me that male attendants accompany them to the washroom as there are no female attendants. Is not the principal answerable for all this?… I spoke to other parents and they told me that their children had also complained of being inappropriately touched. All of them are now going to get their children medically examined.”
“We need to take our children into confidence and ask them about what happens at school and if they have been subjected to abuse. The school authorities have to ensure the safety of our children,” the parent added.
“Details on the number of female and male staffers along with measures taken to ensure children’s safety will be obtained during questioning of school officials. Other parents have also raised concerns and the allegations made by them will be verified. The accused will be questioned to ascertain if he molested other children at school. Investigation is underway,” a police officer said.
