3 postal staff among 4 held for stealing valuables from parcels

Four persons,including three staff of the postal department,were arrested for allegedly stealing valuables from parcels at Delhi Cantonment in Southwest Delhi,police said.

Four persons,including three staff of the postal department,were arrested for allegedly stealing valuables from parcels at Delhi Cantonment in Southwest Delhi,police said.

The incident came to light on Friday when Assistant Manager Rajbir Yadav,with the Netaji Nagar post office,found a post office vehicle parked at a lane in Delhi Cantonment,its doors open and someone in the back of the van.

The man had broken the postal seal on a parcel and was placing valuables in another bag,he told police.

Yadav said he saw a peon loitering outside and the driver sitting quietly while an outsider with the help of another peon was breaking the open the parcel. He called police,who reached the spot and arrested four persons — identified as

Janardhan Maji and Shiv Shankar,both postal department staff,Jai Bhagwan,the driver and Vinod.
