Three houses were burgled in the early hours of Monday in South City-II here.

The robberies took place approximately between 2 and 4.30 am at house numbers 28,29 and 31 in Nirvana Country,a housing society in South City II,according to the residents who were sleeping in other rooms of the houses.

Ashish Luthra, resident of house number 31,said: “We found the room at the back of the house in a mess. I found my laptop, watches,DVD player and clothes missing from the room. The thieves entered the room by removing a window pane of the bathroom attached to the room.”

Luthra said he later found that thieves had broken into two other ground-floor houses adjacent to his. “We were alerted by our neighbours around 6 am. We were sleeping in the bedroom, which is in the front of the house. The burglars entered the house through the window after removing the ply fixed next to the air-conditioner and then cutting the grill. They also cut through a few rods of the railing atop the boundary wall adjoining our house to take the goods away. They also bolted the two rooms at the rear of the house to make sure they had enough time to escape in case we were alerted while they were still at it,” said Shewta Mohanty, who resides in house number 29. The thieves took away her laptop and a gold pen,she added.

In the third house too,the thieves entered by removing the windowpane of the bathroom. They, however, managed to take away only clothes since the room had locked almirahs which would have taken time to break open,Luthra added.

The residents added that there were mounds of loose mud piled outside the boundary wall, which allowed easier entry for the burglars. “We had asked the builders to remove the soil,” they complained. The Gurgaon police have registered a case at the Sadar police station. No arrests have been made so far.
