Niranjan Das,a 20-year-old student from Jharkhand,reportedly died due to dengue at St Stephens Hospital in the Capital on Wednesday.
This is the first reported dengue death in the Capital this year. Das was admitted to the hospital on July 15.
He was admitted on July 15 and tested positive for dengue. He died due to multi-organ failure, Balbir Singh,official spokesperson of the hospital,said.
The MCD,however,is yet to confirm the case. It is not confirmed yet that he died due to dengue. Samples have been sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases and the results are awaited, said N K Yadav,Municipal Health Officer,MCD.

The MCD had earlier declared one case of dengue in Malviya Nagar. The patient was discharged from the hospital after he recovered.
