A 21-year-old woman, who had recently moved to Noida, was raped by a “property agent” in his office in Noida Sector 27 on Sunday. The woman told police that she had gone there to check out houses on rent. Based on the woman’s complaint, an FIR has been lodged at Sector 20 police station.

Police said a hunt is on to arrest the man, who is on the run.

Based on the woman’s statement, police said she had moved to Noida from Bulandshahr and was looking for a job in the city.

“She was initially searching for a house on rent in Greater Noida, but she couldn’t find anything there. So, she came to Noida to search for a house here. On Sunday, the accused asked her to meet him near Atta Market in Sector 27 and said he would show her some houses,” a senior police officer said.

Police said on Sunday evening, the woman met him and he showed her a number of houses that he owned in Atta village.

“After showing her the houses, he returned with her to his office. Once inside, he raped her and let her go after threatening to kill her if she told anyone about it,” the officer said.

Police said the traumatised woman — not knowing anyone in the city — went back to her family in Bulandshahr. She returned to Noida with her family around 2.30 am and filed an FIR at the Sector 20 police station.

“After the FIR was filed, teams were sent to the residence of the accused, but by then, he had fled. We have formed teams and are looking for him,” the officer said.

Police said the woman was taken to the district hospital for a medical examination. She is scheduled to give her statement to the magistrate on Tuesday.

Police said the incident took place on Sunday afternoon. “The officer wasn’t at home. A few men forced their way into the house,” an officer said. Police said the men beat up the two women and threatened to kill them if they didn’t take their clothes off. “After forcing them to strip, they threatened to drag the women outside. But the women started screaming. Nearby villagers heard them and came to their rescue. The men fled by then,” the officer said.

After the officer returned home, he filed a police complaint against the unidentified men. “The officer had an argument with some men. The attack on his wife and daughter seems to be a retaliation,” the officer said.    ENS
