Days after a 52-year-old property dealer was shot dead in Outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar when he was on his way to a gym, the Haryana Police on Sunday apprehended two of the four suspects from the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, sources in the police said. The two suspects were allegedly attempting to escape to Dubai when they were picked up.

On Monday, a post put up on X, purportedly by Kapil Sangwan’s gang, claimed that a fake encounter could be executed. “Yesterday, two of our men were picked up from the Lucknow airport. They had no weapons. Police should not execute a fake encounter. Action should be taken,” the post read.

Police said they were trying to verify the authenticity of the post.

On Saturday, UK-based gangster Sangwan, also known as Nandu, had allegedly claimed responsibility for property dealer Raj Kumar’s murder, citing gang rivalry.

The post prompted the Delhi Police to launch an investigation into his role in the killing.

The two men picked up have been identified as Shubham Sharma and Shokeen Khan, who the police suspect are among the four accused involved in the realtor’s murder.

“Both were absconding in a case lodged in Haryana’s Ambala. A lookout circular (LOC) was issued against them by the Haryana Police,” a source in the police said.

A senior Delhi Police officer said that their team had received a tip-off about the presence of Shubham and Shokeen in Lucknow on Sunday.

“Our team had also reached the airport. Since the LOC was issued in a case from Haryana, the airport authorities handed them over to Haryana Police,” he said.

The officer added that the accused will be taken into custody by the Delhi Police soon. Attempts are ongoing to arrest the other two accused in the murder case, he added.

All four suspects, residents of Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, allegedly killed Raj Kumar following directions from Sangwan over his rivalry with incarcerated gangster Manjeet Mahal.

Raj Kumar was on his way to the gym on Friday morning in his SUV when he was attacked allegedly by four men waiting outside his society’s gate in Pashchim Vihar. Police said Kumar is survived by his parents, wife, and their 22-year-old son.

In a post on Saturday, purportedly put up by Sangwan, the gangster wrote, “I claim the responsibility for the murder that took place in Paschim Vihar. The two brothers (Raj Kumar and his brother) were occupying plots for (rival) Manjeet Mahal. They also went to meet him when he was out on parole,” read a post purportedly put up by Sangwan.
