2 dead, 2 injured in cylinder blast at factory in Northeast Delhi

Two persons died and two were injured allegedly after a cylinder blast inside a plastic moulding factory in Northeast Delhi’s Gokalpuri, officers said Saturday.
DCP (Northeast) Joy Tirkey said that they received a PCR call at 3.30 pm regarding the incident. After a police and fire team reached the spot, they found that a factory was allegedly being run from a house, said police.

The DCP said, “Three persons had already been taken to the GTB Hospital and the fourth was found dead at the spot”.
Later, another person succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, said police.

“It was found that the blast had taken place in the air compressor tank, which is used in the plastic moulding machine. The factory was being operated in a rented accommodation of around 150 square yards,” said the DCP.
“The owner had rented the premises to a person running a plastic moulding factory. Efforts are being made to contact both of them. Their mobile phones are switched off and they’ll be traced soon,” added the DCP.
Police said the deceased has been identified as Bablu (38), who worked as a compressor mechanic, and Karan (60).
