18-acre space, AI, robotics courses: What’s on offer at IP university’s East Delhi campus
At the inauguration Thursday, GGSIPU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mahesh Verma elaborated on the features of the state-of-the-art campus — a central library, two academic blocks, an incubation centre, a sports complex, hostels and modern classrooms and lecture theatres.
Verma noted how the new campus offers courses that address the “contemporary needs of the industry” such as automation, design thinking, robotics, artificial intelligence and machine learning. The university is expected to launch courses in industrial fire safety, film, and liberal arts soon. Abhinav Saha Spread across a sprawling 18 acres of land, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University’s new East Delhi campus is expected to provide education to around 2,400 students. Around 1,000 students have already enrolled in different courses.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was also at the event, said, “It will not be incorrect to say that from an architectural point of view, and from the point of view of facilities that will be provided to students, perhaps this can be counted as one of the best campuses in the country.”
Historically seen as an underdeveloped area, Kejriwal predicted that East Delhi will now witness a “cascading effect” of development.
Delhi Lt-Governor VK Saxena noted how Indians become heads of companies across the world but Indian universities never figure among the top ranks of universities abroad.
“I hope this university will make a mark in the world,” he said.
