A 17-year-old boy was found dead in his school on Friday evening,after he had reportedly gone there to submit a leave application.

A 17-year-old boy was found dead in his school on Friday evening,after he had reportedly gone there to submit a leave application. They boy was planning to go on a vacation with his father.

The incident was reported from Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Nangloi in West Delhi. His family said he left home at 4.30 pm on Friday to submit a leave application,but did not return.

“Our father was taking him for a small vacation and he was very excited. So,he had gone to meet his principal,seeking leave for two days. However,when he did not come back after over an hour,we started looking for him,” the boy’s elder brother told Newsline.

After looking for him in parks,friends’ homes,and places he visited often,his family went to his school. His body was found under a water tank on school premises. “His head had a deep wound and he had a large gash that started at his cheek and went down to his chin. Someone had attempted to hurt him. By the time we reached the school,police had already arrived,” his brother said.

The post-mortem examination was conducted in Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital on Saturday. “A case of negligence has been registered under Section 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code at Nangloi police station. No arrests have been made so far. We are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the next course of action,” Additional Commissioner of Police (West) V Renganathan said.

The last rites were performed on Saturday,after which the family held a protest at the school. The victim’s brother said the 17-year-old had told him that he was being bullied by some boys in his class and had been reluctant to go to school for the past few days.

“He had recently passed Class XI with very good marks and had started the new academic session. He was working hard to prepare for his Board exams this year. He did not have any stress at home,” the brother said.
