A 14-year-old girl was abducted and gangraped by two men in Ghaziabad on Saturday.
Police said her abductors also tried to strangle her but stopped when the girls cries drew people to the spot. The incident took place around 1 am on Saturday.
The victim,police said,was asleep on the terrace of her house in Masuri area of Ghaziabad. Two men,who are also from the same area,abducted her,police said.
They made her smell a drug,which made her faint. They then took her to an isolated place where they took turns raping her. They were about to strangle her when her screams brought others residents to the spot. They rescued her while the two men escaped, a senior police officer said.
Police said the two men were identified by the residents as Shamshad and Qasim,both in their early 20s.
The two are absconding. We have launched a manhunt to apprehend them, the officer said.
Ghaziabad police have registered a case under IPC sections for kidnapping,rape,attempt to murder and relevant provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,2012.
