A 19-year-old Delhi University student was allegedly molested by a teenager when she was walking back home after college.

Sources said the accused tried to kiss the girl in public. The incident took place half-a-kilometre away from Defence Colony police station at about 2.15 pm Monday.

Police said they have lodged a case under relevant sections of the IPC and are on the lookout for the boy.

According to sources, the boy accosted the girl near J-Block, Defence Colony. He allegedly hugged her from behind and tried to kiss her, said a source.
In her complaint to police, the girl alleged that the boy kept holding her tightly for a few seconds. As she tried to get away, they both fell on the ground. She claimed that the boy refused to let go and tried to kiss her once again.

Police said on hearing the commotion, a resident rushed out and raised an alarm. Other passers-by went to the girl’s aid. By then, the boy had fled, taking the girl’s bag with him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Prem Nath said, “We have lodged a case under Section 304A (sexual harassment and punishment) of the Indian Penal Code and launched an investigation. A sketch of the boy is also being made based on the description given by the girl.”

Sources said the boy left his bag on the spot. Apart from a pair of clothes and and some eggs, police did not find anything through which his identity could be established, said the source.
