A controversial Bill to regularise illegal constructions in urban areas in Karnataka through one-time payment of fines,passed by the erstwhile BJP government and recently accorded assent by the Governor,will be supplemented with an ordinance to extend the benefits of regularisation to recent constructions. The decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting Friday.
The Cabinet also decided to provide a compensation of Rs 25,000 to families that have lost cattle to the foot-and-mouth disease,Law Minister T B Jayachandra,who also holds the animal husbandry portfolio,said.
A few days ago Opposition leader H D Kumaraswamy had threatened to march from Srirangapatna to Bangalore if farmers were not compensated for cattle deaths.
