The Amritsar police have booked three persons, all history-sheeters, in connection with the murder case of a Hindu outfit leader Vipin Sharma. However, the police are still tight-lipped over the motive of the crime and no arrest has been made yet. “We have booked three history-sheeters based on their images captured on CCTV. We can explain the motive behind the murder only after the arrest,” said Special Investigation Team (SIT) member and ADCP-I Charanjit Singh.
Vipin Sharma was shot dead in the busy market area of Bharat Nagar of Amritsar on October 30. The police have now named Saraj Singh alias Mintu, Shubam and Dharminder Singh alias Goli in an FIR. A case was also registered a case against Sukhraj Kaur, mother of Saraj Singh, for allegedly sheltering all four suspects at her residence in Amritsar two days after the crime.
Earlier, the Anti Terror Squad (ATS)’s investigation report submitted to Punjab DGP Suresh Arora suggested that Vipin Sharma was killed as a fallout of a rivalry between two notorious gangsters of Amritsar. DGP Suresh Arora claimed that all the accused in the case would be arrested soon.
