Firecracker explodes at Saket court, triggers panic

The firecracker exploded at about 12.30 pm on Thursday, in the basement parking area of an eight-storeyed building on the court premises.

A firecracker exploded in the underground parking area at the Saket court premises in south Delhi on Thursday afternoon, triggering panic among lawyers and visitors. Delhi Police are now investigating how such an incident could take place inside the high-security premises and an inquiry has been launched to probe the matter.

The firecracker exploded at about 12.30 pm on Thursday, in the basement parking area of an eight-storeyed building on the court premises.

“Police received a call in the afternoon about a blast at the Saket court complex. Several police teams rushed there, along with fire tenders of the Delhi Fire Services,” said a senior official.

The area was later cordoned off, said police.
