Boy chasing kite dies on tracks

A 13-year-old boy was killed on railway tracks near Benson as he tried to outrun a train to retrieve his kite Saturday evening.

A 13-year-old boy was killed on railway tracks near Benson as he tried to outrun a train to retrieve his kite Saturday evening. Farooq,a class-VIII student,was son of Nawab Khan of Williams Town in Pulikeshinagar. Khan said Farooq and other children were flying a kite in the area. When the kite got entangled in a tree,he volunteered to retrieve it. However,his foot got stuck between fish plates while crossing railway tracks and he was crushed by a speeding train,Senthil,a neighbour,said.

3 killed in lorry-JCB collision <\b>

Three people were killed when a lorry carrying vegetables collided with a JCB near Navayuga Toll Gate at Subhash Nagar on National Highway 4 early Sunday morning. The deceased include lorry driver Nagaraj (44),Rizwan (51) and Ziaullah (45) of Davanagere. Lorry cleaner Deepak (19) escaped with minor injuries. The Nelamangala police and paramedics took nearly three hours to remove the bodies stuck between the two heavy vehicles.
